Okla. House Panel Advances Kids Privacy Bill

The Oklahoma House Children Committee voted 6-0 to approve a bill setting privacy rules for kids at a hearing Wednesday.

Rep. Toni Hasenbeck (R) said her HB-1388 would require social media companies to complete data protection impact assessments on how their platforms might affect children. The Oklahoma attorney general would enforce the bill.

Hasenbeck told the committee that she had read a news article about a similar measure in New Mexico and decided to bring it to Oklahoma.
