Republican AGs Ask Supreme Court to Uphold Trump’s FTC Firing
The president has "absolute authority” to fire FTC commissioners, a group of more than 20 Republican attorneys general said in a U.S. Supreme Court filing Wednesday.

AGs from Florida, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and other states filed in support of President Donald Trump’s firing of Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter. Chief Justice John Roberts on Monday upheld Slaughter’s firing while the court reviews the case (see 2509080033).
“The members of the FTC must be fully accountable to the President, just like any other executive officers, and cannot be shielded from presidential supervision by a statute restricting the grounds on which they may be removed,” they wrote.
