One key change included the introduction of information privacy principle (IPP) 3A, which requires agencies to notify a person when they collect personal information about them from anywhere other than directly from the individuals, Privacy Foundation NZ noted Sept.19.
The new IPP 3A, as well as certain other provisions of the amendments, won't apply until May 1, 2026.
