Colorado Expects to Finalize Privacy Act Amendments in Coming Weeks

The Colorado Department of Law expects to finalize Privacy Act amendments in the coming weeks, a spokesperson said Friday.

While the amendments and associated draft rules are scheduled to take effect Oct. 1, the adoption process and an attorney general’s opinion could take weeks to finalize.

“The rules still need to be adopted,” a spokesperson said. “We expect that will happen in the next week or so. Then there are 20 days from when we adopt the rules to get the AG opinion on file. Then the adopted rule is filed, and 20 days after publication it becomes effective.”
