Privacy Daily provides accurate coverage of newsworthy developments in data protection legislation, regulation, litigation, and enforcement for privacy professionals responsible for ensuring effective organizational data privacy compliance.
Clothoff, which the DPA branded "the app that strips people," offers a generative AI service that allows users, for free or for a fee, to generate "deep nude" images, fake photos and videos depicting real people in nude, sexually explicit or even pornographic poses.
Anyone, including minors, can create the photos and videos, even if they depict children, without any attempt to verify the consent of the person pictured and without notifying users that the images are fake, the watchdog said, according to a translation.
It's now investigating all "nudification apps" because of the high risks they pose to privacy and personal data protection, particularly for minors. Recent national news about the apps is generating genuine social alarm, the DPA added.
