Irish Privacy Watchdog: Smartphone Location Data Seller Suspends Services
The Irish data broker at the heart of a scandal over the sale of smartphone location data has suspended all services involving such data of Irish users for at least 28 days, the country's Data Protection Commission (DPC) said Monday.

The DPC said it continues to engage with the company. It has also identified two businesses based in other EU countries and is liaising with the relevant data protection offices.
The breach was exposed by Irish public broadcaster RTE on its Sept. 18 Prime Time program after an undercover investigation (see Ref:2509260001]).
The watchdog also noted concerns about the online behavioral advertising Real Time Bidding system, which it's investigating, but said that system doesn't disclose precise location data to third parties.
