Swiss DPA Issues Updated Cookie Guidelines
The Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner published updated cookie guidelines Tuesday in response to questions it received about the text and various issues.

The DPA clarified, among other things, why using cookies to deliver personalized ads may require consent from data subjects, and added information on the location data collection. The update also addresses the use of cookie paywalls and explains whether and under what circumstances consent can be legally given if a data subject has a choice between consenting or buying a paid subscription.
The DPA said it will run an awareness campaign and then take necessary supervisory measures under the guidelines.
