State AGs File Brief Backing Tennessee Age-Verification Law
More than 30 state attorneys general on Friday filed a brief with the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals supporting Tennessee’s age-verification law.

NetChoice is suing to block the law, citing First Amendment and data privacy concerns in case 25-5660 (see 2510060047). The Protecting Children from Social Media Act took effect in January.
The AGs filed an amicus brief with the appeals court, saying NetChoice lacks standing and social media companies are misleading the public about harms to children. The bipartisan group includes Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Oregon, Texas, Vermont and Utah.
“Prohibiting companies from profiting off the exploitation of our kids’ mental health is common sense, and it’s the right thing to do,” Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird (R) said Monday. “Health and safety standards are not unreasonable; they are essential. I’ll continue fighting to protect kids from exploitation.”
