Roku Vows to Fight Florida AG's Privacy Lawsuit
Roku plans to challenge “inaccurate claims” in Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier's (R) lawsuit filed under the state’s comprehensive privacy law earlier this week, said a spokesperson for the maker of the video-streaming box.

The Florida AG claimed that Roku violated the Florida Digital Bill of Rights by collecting, selling and enabling reidentification of children’s sensitive personal data without receiving authorization or providing meaningful notice (see 2510140024). The case is in the Florida 20th Judicial Circuit Court.
“Roku strongly disagrees with these allegations, which do not reflect our efforts to protect viewer privacy,” the Roku spokesperson said in an email Wednesday to Privacy Daily. “We take the responsibility of creating a safe and trusted online environment seriously.”
