Calif. DOJ Sets Nov. 5 Hearing for Social Media Addiction Rules

The California DOJ will hold a Nov. 5 public hearing as part of the lead-up to a rulemaking for the state’s new social media addiction regulation, Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) announced Thursday.

The Protecting Our Kids from Social Media Addiction Act (SB-976) requires the AG to adopt rules for the new law. DOJ said it welcomes public input on methods and standards for age assurance, age assurance obligations and parental consent for social media use by minors.
