Privacy Daily provides accurate coverage of newsworthy developments in data protection legislation, regulation, litigation, and enforcement for privacy professionals responsible for ensuring effective organizational data privacy compliance.

The dashboard shows that between January and June, the watchdog received 532 notifications, down 10% from the previous six months. The biggest source of data breaches is still malicious and criminal attacks (59%, or 308 notifications), the office said. The health sector continues to have the most reported data breaches, followed by the financial industry and government agencies.

The new scheme replaces an earlier reporting system and gives a more dynamic view of the information, the OAIC said. Besides the dashboard, it posted a blog that includes a case study about outsourcing personal data handling to third parties, with links to resources to help organizations prepare and respond to a data breach.
