The families filed the complaint in case 2:25-cv-01743 on Sept. 10 in the U.S. District Court for Western Washington. They alleged that Disney failed to mark certain content uploaded to its YouTube channel as "made for kids," which enabled the personal information of children watching those videos to be collected. No parental consent or notification was given, and the data collection resulted in targeted ads, according to the suit.

Earlier in September, the FTC announced a $10 million settlement with Disney, resolving allegations that the company violated COPPA for its failure to label children's videos on YouTube (see 2509020069).
