EC, Australian and UK Regulators Cooperate on Kids' Online Protection

The European Commission, Australian eSafety Commissioner and U.K. Office of Communications will collaborate to boost child safety on digital platforms, they announced Friday.

Under the agreement, they will work to ensure that kids have safe, inclusive access to digital technologies and that service providers "make real improvements in the safety of children's online experiences."

The plan includes creating a group to discuss age verification solutions and how to expand the technical evidence base for age assurance, they said. The EC is already working on this through its blueprint for an EU-wide age-verification scheme.

The three regulators said they have set some of the highest standards in the world for empowering and protecting young people online.
