The regulations, which took effect Sunday, require “reasonable age verification methods” to check that users are at least 18 (see 2511210031). It covers any website where at least one-third of its material might be harmful to minors.

As the requirements were about to take effect, Pornhub added Missouri to a list of more than 20 states where it’s blocking users due to age-verification laws.

“If a billion-dollar corporation would rather leave Missouri than verify that children are not accessing graphic sexual content, that tells you everything you need to know about its priorities,” said Hanaway. “Pornhub is welcome to leave Missouri. What is not welcome is any company that puts profit above the safety of our children.”
