Hochul has yet to sign a social media warning labels bill (S-4505/A-5346) that passed the legislature in June (see 2506180004). Other New York bills on health data privacy (see 2511260029) and AI regulation (see 2511170054) are among pieces of legislation that also still await the governor’s OK.

“We are writing as parents who have suffered the greatest loss imaginable,” the parents wrote in the Nov. 19 letter. “Our children’s lives were cut short, and we know the role unsafe, unregulated social media platforms and AI companions played in their struggles.”

“We know no law can bring back the children we’ve lost,” they added. “But your signature can help prevent other families from knowing this pain.”
