With digital tools and services becoming widespread for learning and administrative management of schools, the collection of personal data is multiplying, the government authorities noted. The rise of digital technology in schools and classrooms introduces additional challenges for protecting students' and staff members' data, they said.

The Ministry of National Education's mission is to ensure that digital education is based on the rights and responsibilities related to internet use, digital citizenship, combating hateful content and respecting privacy, the agencies said. It's also responsible for guaranteeing data protection for the entire educational community and for reinforcing trust in the digital tools used on a daily basis.

The main priorities of the renewed partnership are increasing awareness of and improving training for the education community; helping educational institutions comply with the GDPR; using personal data for education while respecting privacy; and strengthening European and international cooperation on digital education.
